The day has FINALLY come! Mom is home from the hospital 7 weeks (50 days) since she was admitted Nov 22nd.
Dad drove the car, I rode with Mom in the transport van and Auntie
K stayed home to make sure the home front was perfect. We arrived home about 12:30 and the nurse showed up about 45 minutes later. They did their assessment and will come in about 2x per week. They also order Mom's medications and have them delivered via Fed Ex so we don't have to deal with it, which is really nice.
Once we were home the first thing Mom asked for was a diet Coke, surprise surprise! She drank the whole thing too. Now we just need to get her appetite back. She did some edge of bed sitting and scooting for me which made me really happy. Her #1 goal is to get to the shower and bathroom and we hope to make that happen. In the event that it takes a bit, we had a successful bedpan experience on the first try and that made us all happy.
Right now Mom is just enjoying her happiness in her own bed with her own flannel sheets and Dad is taking a nap beside her, a site I've been waiting a long time to see! As soon as I got her home, I jumped in bed with her, which made us both happy. That's the best thing about being home with a kingsize bed, we all fit! :)
We will keep you all posted as we can. Now instead of visitors, we assume our roles as caregivers.
love to all,
Heidi, Bob & Auntie K
