A day in the life of Heidi and Bob...... so we went over to the hospital this morning and were delayed by some construction and downed power lines.
We arrive at the hospital to see mom and were pleasantly surprised to see her with the breathing tube removed. She had an oxygen mask so still wasn't able to talk. She was having a little bit of a hard time and was crackely which is usual for patients who have been removed from the breathing machine. We were sitting with her and she was being monitored by Dr. Burton and the respiratory therapists constantly. After we were there for about an hour it was becoming clear that she was not able to clear the fluid and mucus from her lungs and Dr. Burton decided it was best to re-intubate. Mom nodded yes and knew that she would be back on the breathing machine.
After the procedure was completed we went back in the room and Mom was definitely resting more comfortably and nodded yes when we asked her that. Dad and I decided it would be best to let her rest after the busy morning and left to come back home.
Never a dull moment......on the way back home through the construction in Lahaina, we were rear-ended by what we believe to be an uninsured driver. No one is injured and not much damage to the car so that's good as we were going slow. Dad is looking it as a way to get the bumper fixed as it had a few scratches anyway. That's Dad, always finding the positive side! <3
Needless to say when we got home, I was ready for a giant diet Pepsi and him a cocktail. We'll get some rest and do it all over again tomorrow. A little less drama though, I think would be nice! :)
Love,
Heidi
